Kartell pioneered the use of polycarbonate in the manufacturing of home furnishings in 1999, following years of study and a groundbreaking breakthrough. The end-product was La Marie, an entirely see-through chair with a modern, minimalist form that inspired Kartell's best-selling Louis Ghost.
